These days, I usually go to restaurants with very low expectations, because it’s really hard to find a place with truly tasty food, good service, and a clean environment all in one. But to my surprise, Chef’s Choice Noodle Bar exceeded all my expectations! We ordered noodles with chicken and beef, as well as drunken noodles, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. My noodles were especially amazing, and honestly, they were one of the best noodle dishes I’ve ever had. That’s what made me want to write this review, because it’s not every day that you find food this good. Highly recommend Chef’s Choice Noodle Bar! 🍜

Decided to try this place for the first time today. Went in around 11:50 and thought that was happy hour time but didn’t receive a happy hour menu. It was just 3 of us and we ordered two Pho’s, one edamame appetizer, and a plate of pad Thai, and of course soft drinks. Our total was $90 and some change. I will say our server was very friendly but didn’t offer refills or napkins (not sure if that’s normal there?) we also didn’t get to see our receipt before paying and I just found out they automatically add gratuity and I tipped extra not knowing this. The food is okay but definitely not worth what they are priced, it was just lacking flavor compared to other restaurants here in Bakersfield that serve the same dishes and the noodles were overcooked and just broke apart into little pieces. The atmosphere is nice, quiet and is more for date nights than for a family of four or more.

Our first visit here was a total win! Everything we ordered was delicious, the place sparkles like it just stepped out of a cleaning commercial, and there’s literally something for everyone—no fights over the menu required. The cocktail menu is beautiful, the beer selection is solid, and the food comes out fast enough to keep hunger at bay. Honestly, we left happy, full, and already plotting our next visit. If you like tasty food, speedy service, and a clean, inviting spot to hang out, this place is a no-brainer. Highly recommend!

My wife and I enjoyed their happy hour menu during Monday Night Football. We thought their deals for happy hour were good. We had garlic edamame, gyoza, and shirmp tempura, which were delicious. We then shared an order of drunken noodles and fried rice. Everything was good! The service was great, the hostess was very nice. We sat in the bar area to order from the happy hour menu. The restaurant was clean with a classy vibe.

For over 15 years, Chef’s Choice Noodle Bar has been a constant in my life — and for good reason. When they moved from their original downtown spot to the southwest, I was worried Bakersfield had lost one of its culinary treasures. Thankfully, they didn’t disappear — they just upgraded, and I would’ve followed them anywhere. This place is the definition of consistency. The service is always warm, attentive, and quick, and the food? Bold, fresh, and absolutely unforgettable. From the Pad Thai that bursts with color and flavor, to crispy tofu stir-fry with the perfect balance of spice and crunch, to wok-tossed glass noodles that taste like comfort in a bowl — every dish has its own personality and packs a punch. What I love most is the atmosphere. It’s one of those rare spots where you can come with friends, family, or even solo, and it always feels right. Chef’s Choice has become more than just a restaurant — it’s a Bakersfield staple, a place that’s woven into the community, and one I can’t imagine this city without.
